Saving Windows 8 Mail App emails for later viewing and printing
With it’s simplified Metro appearance a common question with the Windows 8 Mail App. is where is the Print Icon?
The answer is it’s in the common Metro Interface location for Devices – the Charms Bar.
You can open the Charms Bar in several ways:
- Mouse: Point at the top- or bottom-right corners.
- Keyboard: Press the Windows key + C.
- Touchscreen: Slide your finger inward from the screen’s right edge.
If you open the Charms Bar and then choose Devices while an email message is open in the Mail App, you can save it for later viewing and printing by choosing Print: Windows XPS Document Writer.
This will give a Windows notification after it has written an XPS document version of the email to the Documents Library.
You can then see the email document in the Reader App, either by double-clicking on the notification or choosing it later from the Documents Library.
This use of printing via Devices from the Charms Bar will be found in other appropriate Metro Apps.
