Be careful what you tweak!
There’s lots of advice about tips and tweaks out there on the Web, but, unfortunately not all of it is good.
One of my regular ports of call for good advice is TweakHound and they’ve come up with a list of Bad Tweaks which is worth reading before applying that wonder tweak your mate told you about down the pub.
To summarise, here’s a few things to be wary of for Windows PCs:
- Memory Optimizers (or any program that has one)
- One-Click Optimizers
- Registry Cleaners
- Tweaking Programs
Not all such programs are bad news, but they can wreak when havoc used indiscriminately, especially if, like me, you can’t resist pushing buttons to see what they do!
